Tuesday 14th January 2025
After the session today when I got home I sat and focused on my script, and got it all written. The basic plot is that maya and James fall in love, and they have a great relationship, but like every teenage love, they have their ups and downs and everything changes when James’ Best friend admits that she has feelings for him and he ends up cheating on maya. And the person maya finds comfort in is her younger sister Summer.
And i put up my sign up sheet for auditions for the film.
Wednesday 15th January 2025
Today we focused on character breakdowns and analysis ready for our auditions in normalised. Abbie then gave us some more information on the characters and then some answers to questions that had been asked to the author at the directors weekend for connections.

Thursday 16th January 2025
Today we spent the morning with Tom with people going through and performing their monologues Infront of the group and receiving feedback from Tom. After that we had a screen acting session where we started to focus on table scenes, it was crazy to see all the effort that goes into filming even just one scene and the amount of crew that is needed to do so. The scene we are doing is called the empty chair and I am in a group with delroy and ash.
We then in the afternoon had our singing session with Tom.
Monday 20th January 2025
Today we spent the morning focusing on trust, and building that trust with each other. Because when on stage it is very important to trust each other. Especially because when you are on a stage together you in the moment, no-one knows what might happen. And everyone needs to be able to think together, but without being verbal and talking about it. After our trust building exercises, we moved on to another excercise, which was 'Tug of war' the whole point of this exercise is to get used to using "Who, what when why?" and breaking down the objectives of the exercise we have been given. In this activity, we had to get into teams, and we were put off against each other and played a metaphorical game of tug of war the rope for the game didn't actually exist so we had to use our imagination. But we also had to use our facial expressions and body language to make people believe that we were actually playing tug of war.
After this, we moved on to the set design and costuming of the show, we were given the task of thinking how we could use the same set for both DNA and Normalised, as we have read the script, we know that for normalised we need a tree stump so we had to figure out how we could utilise it in the DNA set too. I also sat and thought about costume, i had an idea for using school uniform for both as they are all school children.

Tuesday 21 January 2025
Today, we continued work on our showcase pieces, today I worked on all my planning, i started my shot lists, and figuring out where i was going to film. I cam up with a few ideas.
Wednesday 22nd January 2025
Today we started the audition process for our connections piece 'Normalised'. We started off the with some time to work on our auditions with the people we had been paired with, it was good to have this time because it made me feel a lot more prepared for the audition. I feel that my audition went quite well. I know there were things that i could have improved on, i know i was a bit quiet and i thought about my lines too much because i was nervous, but i think other than that it wet really well, i think that i really thought about the character of Rosa and portrayed her in a good way.
Thursday 23rd January 2025
Today, we started off the session as usual, we had a monologue session with Tom, we first started the day with a warm up called 'empire' this is a new game that tom introduced us to, everyone chooses a character from the certain category given to us, and you give the character to the person in charge the name of the character, we then get the list read out and we have to use people's facial expressions and what we know about them to guess who is who, when you guess someone they become a part of your empire, the point of the game is to gain the biggest empire. After this we watched people do their monologues as we are preparing them for drama school auditions.
DNA read through
This year, our connections play only has 13 characters so we are doing another play alongside this DNA by Dennis Kelly, this will be shown to schools who are studying it for GCSE, so today we did a read through of it so that we are prepared for auditions and know what to expect. I love this play and i think it is so well written i love the whole idea of it and i can't wait for it to come to life on the stage.
Monday 27th January 2025
We started off the day with a task on active listening, we had to get in groups and with a starting sentence and navigate the dynamic words, this was to help us be able to highlight the most dynamic words within sentences.

Today we did indeoendant study in the LRC and we then did work on the fringe.
Wednesday 29th January 2025
Today we did some more Normalised ausitons but we also moved on to DNA auditions, as i did not have a solo audition, i spent the day preparing and doing more looking into Cathy in order to be prepared for my audition tomorrow.
Thursday 30th January 2025
Today, auditions continued on the auditions for the shows, and we moved on to DNA group auditions, i think that auditioning for the roles in DNA was a lot more tricky and complex because we had to think how would each of these characters think, feel and react to the situations that they are in when we have never been in that situation ourselves, i auditioned for Cathy, she is a character that has many layers, i think deep down she does feel scared, but at the same time, she is so intruiged and fascinated by the fact they have killed someone and she loves the attention that she recieves because of it.
I think that today's audition could have gone a lot better, Kelly told me that she wanted to see that change of character from me, she said that my voice was too sweet and she wanted me to change it so that i sounded more intimidating. I tried to do this, but i was really nervous and i got really worked up, i think in the end i did okay but i know that i could have done a much better job.
