Today, we focused a lot on the therapist snake dance scene, we used the dance that my group created, we used the pink panther theme tune and we moved our bodies with the music starting at our hands and working the movement through our body in a snake like way, it was really nice to see our work coming to life and seeing the scene come together, the scene is really impactful, it creates a feel of panic for Dana, the snakes are used as a metaphor for Dana's talking and how it overwhelms her. After this, we did a read through of hunt, i am interested in the part of Niamh, i really like her character, she is a bit of a bitch but she has a soft spot when it comes to sticking up for her friends, and especially her best friend Lisa, i think this character would be a great challenge for me because she is very out there and has no filter really and she likes to take control, i think it is very different than any other characters i have played before.

Today, we had tom for our session this morning, we focused on how to choose monologues for auditions, he showed us monologues we should choose and what we shouldn't do when choosing a monologue for an audition, we shouldn't choose one that talks about girls and their periods or silly problems, but maybe instead we should choose a monologue that we maybe have a deep meaningful connection with it should focus on real emotions and not problems.

Today we did more shout rehearsal, we rehearsed 3 main scenes today, we did the freaks and geeks skipping scene, which i am not in so went with the girls and we practised out mean girls bathroom scenes, we then focused more on the snakes therapist scene and then we moved on to a new scene, the assembly scene, which included most of the cast, we sat down on chairs and benches and some people stood behind them, we all had points of cheering and then we shouted boo when the other colleges were mentioned, we then all had to stand and sing 'amazing grace' it was meant to sound bad like it would if a bunch of students actually sang the song. it was a fun scene to rehearse and it was nice to do a full cast scene.

Today, we did a few scenes, and i sat learning lines for hunt and catching up on some work i needed to do while i wasn't needed. We finally got onto the mean girls toilet scenes, in the first of the two, I am sat on the toilet and looking for toilet roll because the toiler stall has ran out, i look around me and then i look in my bag for anything i can use, and i am trying to get the girls attention but none of them are listening which we think really shows the broken relationship we all have with each other because none of us actually care about each other, we just care about the gossiping with each other. In the second scene, I try saying to the girls that we shouldn't be talking about Dana, but they just turn on me and walk away and they don't care about what i am saying.

Today we focused on the opening scene more, this scene has needed some changing because it has to be amazing and impactful because it opens the whole show and it needs to be different. We took inspiration from La la land for this scene, we moved between slow motion and stoping and starting talking. The impact of this in the scene, is supposed to be so that we show the way Dana is going through a bit of a out of bosy experience, she feels like she is overwhemed by all the people talking around her and how she can't do that. And that Dana is supposed to feel small in the world around her. Dana is supposed to feel like shes drowning in the world which is a link to later in the play when she talks about the waves crashing in at sea.
Todays session was set up a bit like an audition workshop, we started with an exercise where we had to throw balls to people and we had to remember the order of the balls, we then moved on adding two more balls, we then moved to walking around the space and doing this. It helped a lot with our concentration. We then moved on to the devising section of the workshop, we were given a piece of text, Rhoald Dahl's version of little Red Riding Hood, nursery rhyme, we then had to make it into a scene, initially it was hard to think of how to perform this scene, but we came up with having one person as the narrator and one person as each of the characters, we had the same jumper for the granny and then the wolf put it on so that he was disguised as granny and you could see the clear disguise.
Wednesday 6th March 2024 and Thursday 7th March 2024
On both Wednesday and Thursday we focused on shout rehearsals we re-ran the opening scene tweaking things to make it run smoother and show the characters, We also then made some adjustments to the admissions advisors scene, it doesn't really show the extent of Dana's panic, so we moved on to slamming the books in pile on the table in front of Dana while staring at her as we walk past, then we move to a line behind her and sway like the waves Dana mentions, i think it still needs some adjustments but it is a great scene.

We started today by a football themed warm up, i have an injured shoukder so i could't participate so i filmed it for the lads so they had something for their blog, Today's shout rehearsals were very bitty, we started running out scenes but then we realised that the transitions were causing a lot of hassle so we worked on them a lot. So we had a transition rehearsal, we reworked all the transitions making them bigger and better and more exaggerated we ran them over and over so that they were in our brains and we definetly knew what we were doing. We had to work as a team moving them in sync and putting them down together as one, all our movement as one exercises really came into play for this.

Today was our tech run, but also the first time we have properly used the theatre space at college, we have never actually used the wings at college and we had to figure everything out today and also the lighting and music cues after a run we were given notes, they included theatre etiquette, volume, timing and blocking, these are things we will need to take into mind for our runs tomorrow before the show, so it is polished.

Today, the pressure was on, we had to polish this show so that it was perfect, We ran through the show without costume to see what needed improvements, and transitions needed work again so we worked on them for a while, we then moved to the dress run, it ran smoothly and we all started to feel very proud of the show we had created as a family, as it got closer to the show i felt the nerves i was scared but also extremely excited, we did the show and it went brilliant, at the end we received noted from the woman from The National Theatre and she had very positive feedback for us, overall i think as a company, a family we smashed the show, it went amazing everyone knew what they were doing and we were all able to relax just enough to trust each other that we would all get through it as one big team because no matter what happens, we are a family and we did it together, I am so happy with how the whole show went and i am so excited to do it all over again when performing at York theatre royal.
