September 2024

Monday 9th September 2024   Today, we started with warm ups, we played Splat, we play splat to help us with our concentration and quick thinking. We then played Ninja, this also helps with our concentration and quick thinking, because you have to be on alert and always be expecting anything.  Kelly then led us in some games to get to know each other, we had to go around the circle and say our names and one thing about us, I said that I am playing princess Jasmine in pantomime. After that we played 'What are you doing?' the aim of this is to let loose and to improve quick thinking, because as an actor it is very important to know how to do both those things because if something goes wrong on stage we have to be able to think quick to cover it up and continue, and as an actor you have to be able to let loose to be able to get up on a stage or in front of a camera. We then moved on to improv in groups, we were given prompts from Kelly, the first one was " Dr i think you'v...

Dear Evan Hansen Duologues

Part of our Unit 11 assignment included focusing on doing a duologue, which had been chosen from the musical “dear Evan Hansen ” I chose to be partners with Ale x, for a scene which showed Evan and his mother Heidi having an argument.     In the scene Heidi is waiting for Evan when he gets home, he has been lying about where he had been staying out and his mother had found out about it, they end up getting in a big argument and Evan ends up walking out. This scene is full of a lot of emotion, as Heidi is angry, but she is also really upset because all she has ever wanted is to give Evan the best life she can and no matter how hard she tries it never seems to work. I chose to play Heidi and Alex chose to play Evan as the obvious choice was to make Alex Heidi because she is taller, and she tends to look older, but we really wanted to give ourselves that difference in the roles.     In-between rehearsal times, we had a lot of time to resear...

Unit 10 - Progression

Image
Unit 10 assignment. - Progression     I think my strengths in my acting are, my character acting, because i always do research into the character i am playing and make sure i know everything about that character, so i can have a better understanding of the things that the character would be feeling and their experiences. I also think that i am good at staying in the moment and in character when on stage, i like to keep part of that character in my head even when i am not on stage, so it feels more natural to go on after not being on after a scene or a few scenes because it is easier to keep the character alive. Things that i want to improve on, is my ability to act on screen, i have done screen acting, but i always find it harder than stage acting, on stage i feel like it is easier to be in the moment because the scene is set around you and it is just one continuous story, whereas on screen, it is split up and most of the time, it is not filmed in the right order...
